Naval Air Station Fallon, Van Voorhis Field, is located southeast of the city of Fallon in western Nevada. It is the
United States Navy's premier air‑to‑air and air‑to‑ground training facility. Since 1996
it has been home to the U.S. Navy‑Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) which was previously located at
N.A.S. Miramar, California. Fallon is also home to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC)
which includes TOPGUN, the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS) and the Navy Rotary Weapons
School. The base is also home to VFC‑13 “Saints” Fighter Squadron Composite, who fly the Northrop
F‑5 to provide dissimilar adversary training for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and the Canadian Forces.
At Fallon the U.S. Navy maintains the Heritage Air Park, which
is only accessible with a base pass.
On the day of the visit poor weather conditions restricted flying operations, so disappointingly no photos were obtained
from the runway threshold.
