London Science Museum

Gloster E.28/39 (W4041/G). The first British jet aircraft built by the Gloster Aircraft Company, to test Frank Whittle's revolutionary jet engine. Piloted by Gerry Sayer, it made its first official flight at RAF Cranwell on 15th May 1941. The aircraft was a forerunner to Britain's first operational jet fighter, the Gloster Meteor.
