Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a Scout (G‑EBIB ‘G’). This aircraft was modified for skywriting by adding two long exhaust pipes, which run along the side of the fuselage and join in a nozzle behind the tail. Oil was injected into the exhaust to make the smoke. Major Savage donated the aircraft to the museum in 1939.
